Martini o'clock with House of Fraser

There's something a little sleazy about "Hey, wanna come round mine for a drink?" but if it's a cocktail, suddenly it seems OK.  Anyway it can't be sleazy because it's round mine and I'm classy (hahahahahahaha....I mean...hahahahahahaha).  Failing that, I have some fancy martini glasses to show off courtesy of  House of Fraser.

So House of Fraser have noted my penchant for a martini so sent me these lovely martini glasses to see what I thought of them.  Initially I was too scared to get them out the box but I'm not one for keeping things "for best" - I'm not 70 years old and this is why so many of my battered possessions I defend as "lovingly worn".  Therefore martini glasses didn't stay in the box for long.

There was absolutely no doubt in my mind what cocktail I would make and that was my favourite one of all time; a rose and lychee martini.  First had in Carom and then Ping Pong.  However, being more of a drinker than a maker (although it is still on my bucket list to flair like Tom Cruise but that's for another day), I had to refer to trusty Difford's Guide for a recipe which called for -
  • 2 shots of London Dry Gin
  • 1 shot of rose petal liqueur
  • 1 shot lychee syrup
  • 2 dash Peychaud aromatic bitters

The bitters and rose petal liqueur I bought from The Whisky Exchange and the dry gin, I decided to buy the new Bombay Sapphire Dry Gin (link is to Tesco website which at the time of posting was on promotion.  Merry Christmas ya filthy animal).

As you can see, a very suitable choice for these beautiful glasses.  Obviously don't chuck them about the place but they're not as delicate as I thought / freaked out about.  Perfect for having a very girly drink like a rose and lychee martini and I look forward to trying out a few more ideas now that I've decided to channel Tom Cruise.
