I've decided that Wardour Street / Soho is definitely one of my favourite areas in London.  That street is always buzzing and there's more places to eat and drink than I can shake a hungry stick at. I had organised a girly dinner at Grace Bar (http://www.grace-bar.co.uk/) which was only around the corner so in typical fashion I thought I'd squeeze in a few cocktails and read about Freedom Bar (www.freedombarsoho.com, 66 Wardour Street, W1F 0TA).

I've recently migrated from match.com and was trying out this new dating website called Doingsomething www.doingsomething.co.uk.  Doingsomething is based on a fantastic premise of providing novel and interesting date ideas so that the focus isn't on being stressed making a good first impression but the joy of doing something fun.  So this was my first date with a guy from it who seemed to have the impression I was this daredevil (crazy to assume that from my photos of paragliding, snowmobiling and climbing up a 70ft mast...).

London Cocktail Week 2012

It must have been Boris Johnson who set up the London Cocktail week.  Or if it wasn't, whoever it was needs to be elected as the new MOL.

The great thing about London Cocktail week is that it appeals to the whole spectrum of groups that the ideal of cocktails seems to perpetuate; the professional who knows the history, science, method and technique, the appreciating amateur who has a more refined knowledge of spirits and science than the average drinker, the undereducated appreciator (I hold my hand up here) who doesn't really know a great deal about cocktails but knows that there's more to life than a woo woo and the people who like to pose with cute martini glasses and live out their SATC / Mad Men dreams (OK fine I'm in this camp too).
