Cocktails at Hermitage Rd Hitchin

When my friend recently confessed (I say confess although really she said it more as a statement) that she's not bothered about going out and the whole partying scene and ALL my other friends nodded in agreement except me (I may have hastily replaced my disgusted look with a look of mild agreement), I came to the dreaded realisation that my friends are actually acting their age and I appear to have missed the memo.

Going to oh-so-grown up places like Hermitage Rd bar and restaurant (http://www.hermitagerd.co.uk/ 20-21 Hermitage Rd, Herts SG5 1BT) with my friends for cocktails and dinner is a prime example.  I don't mean this in a mocking way as I think the place was wonderful.  I say grown up because it's so nicely decorated (with the prettiest toilets I've ever been in - first time I have ever mentioned the toilet in my blog) and the exposed brickwork, tall windows and lovely light should help keep the young chavs away.

I could actually do with a bike and this one is quite cute and clearly not used much.

This is a Caipirinha.  Perfectly sweet and refreshing and drinking it makes me want to go to Brazil (which I'll add to my growing list of holiday destinations that I can't afford).

This is a Bergamot gin sour.  Made by a novice cocktail waiter but overseen by someone who definitely seems like he knows a thing or 2 about making cocktails.  Usually drinks in this glass spells danger but it really wasn't potent and was in fact very enjoyable to drink.

So if being a grown up mean we get to go to lovely places like this, then I guess it's not a bad thing.
